I BE DAT E L D E R WIT MY NAME IN BOLD

¡Buenas!

Hola everyone, what is good? Its been a great week here! Between a trip to the waterfalls and confirming a baptism of one of our coolest investigators (Sesar) for this Saturday I am totally content.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. Peruvians are not about the Thanksgiving life I guess but a less active family we have been working with invited us over for their best attempt at Thanksgiving. "Día de Acción de Gracias"

I got to go on divisions with Elder Bulkley from STG this week! Such a chill Elder. Holler back if any of you Snow Canyon wannabes know him!

HauteBrillance is officially world famous! A 12 year old in the ward watches her videos.

Once again I have no time, sorry peasants. I love all of you guys and its so nice to here from you all!

LOVE YOU, ALL IS GUCCI IN PERU

Called to swerve, Month 3

WHOOP WHOOP!

MONTH THREE PEOPLE! I am semi-not-a-newbie anymore!
Feels so good to be out here and be in the swing of things!

It has been a week full of service we helped a family paint their house and helped two other families move.

Not much I can think of to share this week!

The highlight definitely was the baby shower. Yes, baby shower. NO CLUE. We some how were involved in a baby shower unexpectedly? I was asked to give a speech.... I don't know how to give a baby shower speech in English let alone Spanish so let's just count are blessings that's over!

I am out of time seeing as we are hiking out to some waterfall? Don't ask me. HAHA.

I also had to speak for 15 minutes in sacrament and it was actually a BOMB talk so what up Peru.

Love, Elder Malloy.

NEW SHEETS NEW ME

Saludos a todos! Estoy tan feliz! Tenemos tres fechas para noviembre! El obra es realmente bueno en nuestro área en este momento!
But most of all, I am stoked because my package with my micro plus blanket and hot cheetos came in the mail. SHOUT OUT TO LA MAXIMA MADRE EN LA TIERRA.

Okay in slightly less self centered news my best friend in Peru (Lady age 9) (taking what I can get on the friendship scene) gave the prayer in Sacrament meeting.  !PUEDO ESCUCHAR UNA AMEN! Her family is preparing for baptism and we finally got them to church when Lady was in the Primary Program. BAH you think primary programs in the states are good you should have seen this on yesterday. At one point the bishops little son yelled translated to English something to the extent of THIS IS GOING REAL BAD REAL FAST.

My zone is filled with newbz to the area this week with all the area changes. SOS they better be chill because I am not down for boring weekly zone conferences.

We made more cookies last Monday after one my best friends (Elder Quilcat from Trijijo Peru) begged for us to show him how to make them. (not the slimmest Elder in the field I might add)

SKETCHY... I mean spiritual experience of the week was having the opportunity to visit the hospital to give a sister in the ward a blessing. We found ourselves in a cramped  room of several patients with various conditions. The smell of dirty bed pans and sweaty elderly was hard to ignore as we met with the sister and began to offer a blessing of health. But as we were able to exercise priesthood authority the room fell silent. Moans of pain ceased and worried relatives lost words. As we prepared to leave shaking hands with the sister sharing last words of comfort and encouragement a woman approached us asking if people who are not Mormon are able to receive blessings, We promptly replied of course! She proceeded to walk us in the direction of her brother who lied pale and thin in his rickety hospital cot. He slept through most, if not all, of the blessing, but I know it was heard where it needed to be heard. After the blessing his sister reached for her purse asking how much she owed us. Completely taken aback we replied that money can not by blessings, that with faith and hope in the Lord and his plan he can know what his father has in store for him.

I love being a missionary and I love all of you!

¿Que Tal famila y amigos y peasants?

¿Que Tal famila y amigos y peasants?

This week is the start of a new change. Elder Taysom and I were in the clear for changes because I am still in training but dang its straight up Hunger Games intensity level to see who´s going and who is staying. Sad that this is the most excitement we get? Maybe.

Anyways, all is Gucci here! We are stoked for this new change and are hoping to get a lot of work done. Especially with our home boy Ceasar the 17 year old who lives across the street. He came to church and we introduced him to every young woman without arm hair. Flirt to convert.

¿QUE TAL GUYS?

¿Que tal guys?

First things first! I actually got a picture to attach! Halloween miracle. Elder Taysom and I are going full thug baking cookies for the less actives and elderly in the ward today. HAHA.
They don't understand the concept of a cookie here, they call crackers cookies and that is a problem, a problem that we are about to address  with a couple batches of ghetto gringo Americano missionary cookies.

This week has been great! We actually had a good turn out to sacrament meeting this week! The best was a man named Nolrberto (I thought it was Norberto, he just had a lisp due to his lack of teeth but it has been confirmed it is in fact Norlberto). Norlberto is 88 years old. Some might say wait a few years and do his work in the temple but I say there is always room for a fossil or two in the chapel. We may of may not have had to buy him breakfast on the way and wait 23745237 years for him to chew it (again due to his lack of teeth) but it was great to see little Norl in the chapel. He is a little hard of hearing and kind of blunt and lives alone but we LOVE him. He lost his wife 60 years ago after she was released from the hospital too early after a surgery and died on the bus ride home. We shared with him the message of the Plan of Salvation. He started crying as we explained he can and will see his wife again through the plan of his father in heaven. He´s lived 60 years thinking that he would never see her again, that life after death was nonexistent. Families can be together forever.

This is not the only case that has got me thinking this week but its definitely one that's stuck with me. We have dozens of investigators with dozens of problems but the gospel of Christ is the cure to all of them.

I love you guys! Great to hear from all of you! Stay Ghetto.

WEEKLY MALLOY UPDATED

Weekly Elder Malloy update coming at you live from the oh-so-familiar charmingly sketchy internet garage. Today's playlist: Spanish Reggae dubstep. This ghetto music is surely heaven sent. Even elders need an occasional accidental jam sesh and if Spanish Reggae is the best I can get you know I am taking it. Actually Elder Taysom and I have some pretty sick mission approved beats. Like, I can/definitely do get crunk to "Be Still My Soul"

Anyways, first things first! A special birthday shout out to the hippest little sister in the game Abby! I love you so much and hope you have a muy chevré cumpleaños¡ (PS Chica, you know I got a b-day card with some Peruvian goods coming your way)
Okay, next item of business. It is time I talk about our shower. First of all, let me start by counting my blessing of warm water. The water is heated by electricity which is sketch-ville sketch-county Peru if you ask me. I mean I am not going to pretend have a vast knowledge of the heating of shower water at its appropriate methods, but I am also not going to pretend like the occasional strike of lightning from the shower head should be a normal occurrence! The only really questionable part is when you have to flip the switch to turn the water on, and this is not some normal household light switch, people. We are dealing with some serious Frankenstein industrial hardcore means business med-evilest electrical hardware. Needless, to say I count my blessing even if they are sketchy and carry a temperamental electrical current.

Next,
   Companion Update:
Elder Taysom is still best. He has been a huge help these past weeks and this last week specifically he has just been a solid friend. Missionary work is all the more chill when you companion is a homie. We have a hard time keeping it together sometimes when people tell us their life stories (I am not sure what it is about the mission plaque but people will and do tell us everything) But yeah, we are constantly cracking up slash nudging each other to stay awake when Hermana Rosa takes a trip down memory lane. Last night we found this old LDS film called "Our Heavenly Fathers Plan" OH MY YouTube this thing right now you guys. It is legitimately the cheesiest cinematic production in the history of men. The script and wardrobe changes are out of control HAHA. So quoting that sarcastically is one our other favorite activities. Elder Taysom is District Leader so I go on a lot of exchanges which is always fun as well. This week I went on a 24hr exchange with Elder Wilches from San Antonio, Chile and Elder Olachae from Lima, Peru.

  The Grind:
So the basic update is overall really good! We have a lot of investigators who want to listen, a lot who want to be baptized, and a lot we can help. But, not a lot who want to give up their Sunday mornings to come to church.. Basically here is the struggle: Lote Reuniones these meeting they have here weekly for all the residence of a certain part of town, its basically mandatory. You have to attend or there is a fine and if you miss a certain amount you are evicted from your lot. SATAN IS LITERALLY IN MY AREA DISGUISED AS LOTE REUNIONES. But, from what I understand you only have to go through all the meetings once and then you own your lot. Who even knows? Ghetto. But, most of the members have lived here long enough to have it all figured out. Super ghetto and weird, but we still have a lot of hope for next week!

We are really wanting to get the community involved in wholesome acivities together. (Poppin bottles on the street corner is just not cutting it) We have a brand new chapel in the middle of our area in walking distance from everyone! So Elder Taysom and I are putting together weekly community activities at the church:
Jueves: Clase de Ingles
Viernes: Noche Misional (Vídeos y Películas)
Sábado: Fútbol (con los Gringos)
This week was our first week doing this so it stared kind of slow. HAHA
For example, Friday (movie night) We had two families and one investigator show up, a total of maybe like 7 people. I mean all was good though! Other then the fact that halfway through the movie a gang of stray dogs made their way into the chapel! Here I am trying to make sure everyone is having a good time enjoying the movie we picked out of the life of Christ and out of no where we got Lady and the Tramp over here in desperate need of a Chastity pamphlet! But I broke up the K-9 love fest and showed them along with two other strays to the door. The rest of the night went smoothly.
We are really excited for these activities. With the help of The Lord we are going to bring this area together! I am really happy with the way things are going!

D&C 6:36 "Look unto me in every thought, doubt not, fear not."
A good friend shared this scripture with me and it has been a great help for me this week. Its easy to get lost in my incompetence with the language, with my teaching abilities, and with my knowledge. But when I look to The Lord and confide in his knowledge before my own I am blessed! This is his work, I am just a tool in his hands.

Love you all!
Elder Malloy.

AYYYO FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!

Another week down in the field and I am going strong. This week I got to watch conference, in Spanish. My brain is literally still fried from trying to concentrate on the message but I can’t express how blessed we are to here from our prophet and his apostles. My favorite was definitely Elder Holland’s talk on charity in the Saturday session. Yeah apparently they have sessions on Saturday too? Who knew?

Okay so a lot of you have been wanting to know an average day in the life of Elder Lobro so here you go children:

I wake up at an hour that I didn’t know existed two months ago to go running with Elder Taysom. Let me remind you Elder Taysom is a pro-mountain biker and extreme rock climber who lived off a strict diet of heath food and granola before the mission while I am a graphic designer who enjoys the simple things in life like Netflix and hot Cheetos. Needless to say he has some serious patience with me not only on our runs.

Next we study scriptures for like 109 years and get some training in before lunch. Elder Taysom is easily the chillest trainer in the world.

All out meals are at our house. We live with our pension, Hermana Carmen. Our adoptive Abuela. She is a little loving Peruvian women with a huge heart and a huge desire to feed me a huge amount of food.

The rest of the day depend on the schedule but mainly consists of

Us politely integrating every family in Arequipa Central for their address and phone number so we can teach them about the gospel.

Avoiding these ratchet dogs. (I have been bitten three times this week. The city of Arequipa is definitely the set of the ASPCA commercials and I find myself sarcastically humming IN THE ARMMMMMS OF THE ANGEEELS on an hourly basis.)

Teaching so many lessons! I am happy with the way things are going we have found a lot of progressing investigators and I am so excited every day to see how they are doing and see what we can help them with.

Visiting members. Visiting Menos Activos. Contacting. Ghetto Service. Trying to speak in spanish.Noches de Hogar. Fighting off my homeless drunks and their desires to kiss me. ect..

We end the day with a planning session, a cheesy LDS movie, chill stories and vent sessions, a cup of Manzanilla and a bowl of my favorite Lucuma yogurt with almond cereal.

So yeah basically I love being a missionary more every day. I never knew one day could be so productive.

Pictures;

1 -My district. Love these Elders y Hermanas. They refer to me as Elder Malfoy and insist that I resemble Draco Malfoy. Also, they often chant my name which for some reason Latinos chanting your name is more motivating than its supposed to be.

2-  Just on our way to a visit.)

Love you guys! Thanks for all the emails! I love to hear from you every week!
