Transfers have me coming at you live preaching the gospel in the deepest canyon in the world inside a valley of active volcano. Chivay.

I am here in the land of alpacas and panachai and loving it. My new companion is Elder Diederich from my group! He is from SLC and is a spiritual giant. I am stoked to be here with him. 

Yesterday we met Teresa. The mother of three small children. She came up to us in the street asking to be baptized and tried to buy us some bread but once again fast Sunday set us up for an awkward first lesson. haha. She invited us into her house which was a small room with two beds a dirt floor and a dresser. She opened up to us about her abusive husband and basically how ruff life is for her right now. We shared with her, through the spirit, the words she needed to hear. I am a child of God. We sat with all her kids huddled around my hymn book and say "Soy un Hijo de Dios" the spirit was so strong even as her kids went back to fighting and pushing. That's why we are here in Chivay, here in Perù, here in the mission. To let everyone know that we are Gods children. We have a father in heaven who has a bigger plan for us, someone who can see all the pieces to the puzzle. 

Weekly highlights: 

1. Teaching the branch how to make smores Saturday night. 

2. Sunburns and Cow tongue lunches 

3. Runny noses and icy river water cold showers for days. 

4. 7 people members came to church yesterday! WORK TO DO PEOPLE. 

5. We basically have a pet dog named scrappy that follows us to every lesson and waits outside the door. Oops. 

there is so much work to be done here in our little branch, but the Lords work is moving forward everywhere.

Hi guys.

WELP, you are probably wondering if I am still alive if you read this blog. oops. 

Si, vivo peeps. 

These last week have flown by so freakishly fast. I am finishing up my third and rumored to be last change working in the office this week. Bitter sweet adios-es eh? 

Honestly my time here in Mirador has been so fun. So many people I love here, plus ratchet stories, and way more queso helado than I should have ate. 

Weekly Highlights: 

- Kristell got her temple recommend and is going to travel to Lima in August with the Young Women. I love Kristell and am so happy to see her grow in the gospel. She made me a big card this week that said her testimony with a whole bunch of ghetto sparkle craft stuff. Teresa is also getting ready to go to the temple and it just makes me so happy to see where they are headed. 

- Hector is coming to church every week with his little school boy tie and suit and is still sharing his testimony with everyone he encounters. HAHA 

- We found THE SICKEST family whos daughter moved to Ohio got baptized and is now on her mission in Idaho. Meanwhile her family is just here waiting to hear the gospel. More to come on them, but I am stoked! 

-teaching myself to watercolor paint, no pasa nada hasta esta hora doeee.

Hey guys. 

Guys, this week has been hecka good here in Mirador. I think I said this last week but I love Mirador so much. It is easily the coolest area in the mission. #bendito 

Kristell´s baptism was this Saturday. Kristell is like my little sister here, she reminds me so much of Abby and Taylor. (extraño esos dos) I am so happy for her! Her foot came up twice and the water was SO freezing but we had so much fun and I am so happy she is officially a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

Wow this week flew by, This we had all the new elders and sisters come, "consejo" or the night where the mission secretaries have to talk to all the zone leaders in this big conference, leadership counsel, and zone conference. SO yeah a lot going on. Not to mention preparing for a baptism the week to come!  

 Stories for you this week;

1. Nelí, 

I don´t know if anyone remebers when I talked about Nelí but we finally got to speak with her again! Nelí is the mother of a two missionaries who served in Spain a few years back and now live in Europe. The night we found her (about a month ago) she was SO happy to see us and was so excited to come to church. But, when we went back to see her she had completely changed and we had no idea why! Anyways, Thursday night we were passing by her house/store and I just felt a an impression to go in. I told Elder Rossano and he shrugged it off, due to her complete lack of interest in us the past month, I agreed we kept walking for a moment and he said "No, you´re right we need to go back." The moment we entered she came running up grabbing us by the arms telling us a long experience. She shared with us how she got discouraged to be Mormon by a friend. But in the last week she received an answer telling her that she should not have turned us away and needs to start coming to church and learning more. She talked about the light she can see in the member of the church. We were so happy! Sometimes the spirit tells us things and the natural man tries to brush it off! But I am so glad Elder Rossano and I turned around and saw Nelí that night. 

2. K so today is P-day but Elder Peterson and Moreno (the other secs) had a baptism so I was in the house grabbing some things with Elder Peterson and our landlord comes to the door. I answer the door and, without introducing herself, she begins explaining how we need to kill the birds and their eggs that are nesting in our window seal. First off I was sitting there like who is this lady like I had never seen her in my life! But when I came to the conclusion that she was our land lord I tried to reason with her without confrontation #representativeofJesusChrist about how we should wait until they hatch and can fly but she would not have it! So I might be hiding fugitive bird eggs in my top drawer until they hatch. Oops. 

3. The sisters in our zone called the other morning asking us for help, because they got locked out of their room. So yeah, not really sure what they were expecting us to be able to do but we swung over to try to help with "Papito" or Brother Minaya. (I can´t remember if I have told you guys about Papito, he is this 55 year old man who works for the mission and is basically in a trio with me and Elder Rossano we are his best friends and he is with us working and driving us around Arequipa to run errands sun up to sun down. Love that guy, he wears a mission plaque that says Hermano Minya haha. Anyways yeah) So we get there and tried to break in through the window but the window, but the window wouldn´t open. So Elder Moreno just starts shoving random keys in the slot and one of the Office keys worked to open their door. GHETTO. So I officially feel really safe at night now knowing that the locks here are super trustworthy. ¡MAS BAMBA! }

Everything is well here in Mirador. 

I love my area, it is huge. We are in the ancient part of the city with old chapels and stone streets. We find a new cool place to contact almost everyday. The work is really moving along here and I love getting to know the people. Also, still working hard in the office.

Better late than never.

Hi family and friends.

This week has flown by; the first and last week of the change are always the busiest here in the office. We sent 15 elders home Thursday and are welcoming 15 more this Tuesday. It really puts in to perspective how fast 2 years goes by. I see all these elders leaving and realize you never really feel ready to be done. I have so much to do here and so much to learn! 

THIS WEEK,

LA OBRA MISIÓNAL:

Okay this week has been an amazing week of spiritual experiences amongst all the chaos of the changes. 

For one we met this amazing Mom who hasn´t been coming to church for around 4 years, when she was originally taking the mission lessons she had to sneak out of her house in fear of her abusive husband. Now, 4 years later she is ready to come back and her 12 year old daughter is more than excited to be baptized. We asked her if she had any questions after the lesson and she asked "¿Cuando es lo más pronto que yo pueda ser bautizado?" "When is the soonest I can be baptized?" I love the feeling that comes with seeing a family apply the gospel in their lives and playing a role in their return. 

Today we had an activity in the stake where all the missionaries left with a teenager, preparing for a mission, to show them how awesome it is to be missionary. I left with Pedro, this super cool 16 year old from the Umacollo ward. We headed to visit this little grandma investigator  who loves listening to us and is always happy to see us at the door I thought it would be a safe bet for a great experience! ABORT. Things went so bad. HAHA Her 4 foot nothing, Peruvian tempered, 70 year old, husband came marching to the door cussing us out with a mouth full of Spanish far beyond my gospel driven vocabulary.

Still not ready to give up on them quite yet haha. But, so here I am trying to show Pedrocito how awesome it is to serve a mission, trying to keep up with Señor Julio´s SMACK TALK, all while dodging a door slam. BUENO. 

So back up plan we head to one of the inactive members of the ward we are working with. He invited us in and we shared a nice lesson with him, but just as we were getting ready to go, his grandma hobbles out asking for a blessing. She recently fell down the stairs and is kind of just a senile mess. (lo siento gma) The spirit was so strong as we invited the whole house to sit in on the blessing. Before we left we knelt down with the family and the father offered a prayer. He ended in tears as he tried to count the years since his last prayer. Pedro bore his testimony on the strength of a family. It was sick. Later at the end of the activity Pedro shared his testimony of missionary work. LA OBRA DEL SEÑOR people!  

Anyways it has been such a great week here. I hope everyone is gucci back in the land of the free. Love you all so much can´t wait to hear from you guys Saturday!

Hey guys, 

Coming at you live from P-day.

Sorry I didn´t post last week, we went to the waterfalls. Hecka.

So this week has basically been great. 

We found this awesome family that has been inactive for like 10 years. We came across them and just hit it off! Things have been going so well and they are so happy to be returning to the church! MILAGROS EN MIRADOR. The 13 year old (Lev) is going to receive priesthood tomorrow. Lev is the best, yesterday we were singing Say Something and practicing English after a family home evening (I have a promise with him that if he learns English I will introduce him to one of my sisters)(lo siento sistaz) 

So I am pretty stoked for them! Other than that we are still looking for someone who we can get to come to church! We have had a couple lessons with new investigators this week so FINGERS CROSSED PEOPLE.

Highlights: 

-Presidente took us to a Bull Fight one day at the random! (pictures to come) 

- Mi compañero es mi pata. (my comp is my leg which somehow mean homie in spanish slang)

Hey guys,

So la Madre told me I need to step up my blog game so.. aqui estoy. haha. 

Office news. 

Well I got my own official office plaque, so you could say things are getting preeeetty swanky. 

The office is great. It fun to be able to see what we can do to help the missionaries and improve the mission. Also, not complaining that there is a fro-yo place down the street. #uppereastsideperubenifits 

La Obra: 

WE FOUND THE MOST AMAZING INVESTIGATOR.

I am so stoked, this week was a little ruff. We are basically starting from nothing here in Mirador, so that on top of work in the office just makes the work a little ruff! BUT, we havent let that get us down. 

But yeah, so we were looking for a recent convert who we havent met and havent seen in church but his casa was hecka impossible to find. So we stopped in this little corner market to ask for some directions. Come to find out the most amazing little lady lives there who invited us in and sat us down. She spent like 902348023 hours showing us her kids on Facebook who live in the states and then tells us about her son who served a mission in Spain and is living there with his older brother who is also a member.¡MAS ESCOGIDO! She loves the church and the Book of Mormon but had to stop taking the lessons when she moved to Lima after being diagnosed with Cancer. Now she is here and ready! 

It was such a cool experience after a little bit of a ruff week. I know if we work hard The Lord will take us where we need to be. 

Apartment Talk: 

So living with 6 Elders is super chill. 

Sin embargo, Risk the board game has officially been banded after a friendly pday pass time has resulted in some really awkward silences. (Elder Peterson and I had such a hard time trying not to laugh at how serious it was taken) 

But World War 3 is over and all is well. 

Elder Rossano, Elder Peterson, and I have the best time working together and I am loving where I am at here. 

I love the mish. The 6 month mark is creeping up and it feels so weird.
